The simplest description of Qua is, “movement sequences with the conscious presence and fluidity of T’ai Chi, the big stretches and equanimity of yoga. and the inner chi movement of Qi gung; all coordinated to sacred sounds and chants from our world spiritual heritage.“Qua” literally means, “As” or “Being” and QUA is an acronym for “Quickening Unified Attunement.” “Attunement” means, “being or bringing into harmony; a feeling of being “at one” with another being”.
Qua is a daily practice for health and sanity in a crazy world. Simple movements with sound and intention clear and balance one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies…and all the pathways, gateways, and circulation vortices that, by their movement, keep us healthy.
Qua has its roots in Tai Ji Chuan, Yoga, Qi Gong, Tantra, Pranayama (breath practice), mantra or sacred sound practice, along with the power of intention and meditation. It is inspired by quantum physics and the cutting edge science that the universe is alive and we are on the edge of the frontier of it’s/our evolution. We are “patterns of light, love, music and knowing” (Duane Elgin, The Living Universe) more than we are physical bodies. Knowing that, how do we care for our particular pattern?
Qua is a practice to regularly, consciously remember and experience being the greater oneness that we all are…. the stardust of the Cosmos. Human qua (as, being) spirit; spirit qua human…Humanity qua Cosmos…we are all of it.
One can practice Qua in short 5 minute sessions to effectively ground and attune in the midst of a stressful day; or one can practice Qua as a full exercise of body, breath and being. It can be a deeper daily practice on it’s own. or in preparation for meditation.
I am intrigued by movement as a way to be present to life now. Do you offer any classes or workshops in Seattle or on Whidbey Island on weekends?
HI Gordon,
I’m new to this blogging…hope this gets to you! It’s great you found my blog. I’m curious how you found it as I haven’t done a lot to get it “out there”.
I’m afraid that I am just offering a weekly weekday class on Whidbey now for the summer but I may offer something in Seattle in the future. Can I put you on a list to contact with future classes?
Thanks for your interest.
